Workshop with De Caras's Sebas and Seba

Workshop:

Join emerging dance collective DeCaras, for a dynamic, bilingual, 2-hour creation workshop designed to spark movement through the richness of Latin American literature. Drawing inspiration from the words of Latin American artists, writers, and poets, participants will explore how text can unlock new choreographic impulses and help them break through creative blocks.

This focused, fast-moving workshop is structured as a creation bootcamp, encouraging dancers to let go of overthinking and trust their creative instincts and impulses. Rather than focusing on choreography development, the workshop emphasizes the generation of movement “seeds”—raw, spontaneous physical ideas that can later blossom or inspire further creation.

Participants are welcome to bring a favourite poem, excerpt, or text that resonates with them, either in Spanish, English, or Spanglish, but the DeCaras duo will also provide a curated selection of literary works to work from.
